The Story

The oldest part of the house dates to 1690; the rest arrived in unhurried instalments, which is why nothing quite lines up and everything feels right. The current owners spent three years reworking it around a single idea — that a house for twelve should still feel intimate for four.

So there are two sitting rooms rather than one vast hall, a kitchen you can cook in with company, and a terrace positioned precisely where the sun lands at seven in the evening.
