Windermere is the lake everyone knows and, on the right shore at the right hour, still the most beautiful. Ten and a half miles of water, wooded islands, and Edwardian boathouses that have been quietly watching the weather for a century.
Our houses here sit deliberately away from the busier eastern side, on the shorelines and lanes where the lake is a private thing rather than a public one.
